What is Orthodontics?
Orthodontics is a specialised branch of dentistry concerned with the growth of the teeth, jaw and face. It’s about making the best of your teeth, improving the harmony of your mouth and jaws and creating a natural, healthy smile.
The benefits of orthodontic treatment include long-term dental health, speech improvements and increased self- esteem from aesthetic improvements.
Problems that orthodontic treatment corrects in both adults and children include:
- Crowded teeth
- Protruded teeth
- Under bite
- Over bite
- Missing or extra teeth
- A disorder of the jaw joint
Orthodontic irregularities are generally treated with braces. However, this should not fill a prospective patient with dread. Technological advancements mean that braces today are less visible and far more aesthetically pleasing than they used to be.
At Century Dental Clinic we use two leading unobtrusive systems, Incognito Lingual braces and The Clearstep System.
