Gavin qualified as a Dentist in 1996 from the University of the Witwatersrand, South Africa. He subsequently moved to the UK and worked as a general dental practitioner and an SHO in Oral and Maxillofacial surgery in Norfolk, before commencing his 3 year training programme in Orthodontics at Guys Hospital, London.
He obtained a Masters degree in Orthodontics together with the Membership in Orthodontics (MOrth) from the Royal College of Surgeons of England.
After leaving Guy’s Hospital in 2004, Gavin decided to further his orthodontic training, and was a senior registrar at the Eastman (UCL) and Kingston hospitals where he was awarded his Fellowship in Orthodontics (FOrth). He was appointed as a consultant in Orthodontics at Wexham Park and
Heatherwood hospitals, and as a locum consultant at Northwick Park.
His Master’s thesis was on computerised prediction of facial aesthetics after surgical orthodontics in adult patients. His special areas of interest include aesthetics in the orthodontic patient, child and adult, lingual orthodontics, multidisciplinary work ( restorative, periodontal and orthognathic), and working with patients with cleft lip and palate.
He is a member of the British Dental Association, the British Orthodontic Society, the World Federation of Orthodontists, and the American Association of Orthodontists. |
